Has anyone else wondered why "No country for old men" got best picture!
Question: I was so let down at the end. Did anyone else feel the same?
Answers: I was so let down at the end. Did anyone else feel the same?
that ending might have worked in the book, but it was very unsatisfying for a movie. the academy likes the coen brothers and i do too, but i don't think it's one of their best films. my own prediction for best picture was "juno" not because i liked it so much, but because i thought voters would probably find "no country" too dark and amoral. "juno" seemed like the sort of upbeat and life-affirming thing that would be a perfect counterpoint to the perception that hollywood is such a hotbed of liberal propaganda. but what do i know? my favorite movie of the nominees was "michael clayton".
In today's era of sequel, prequels, and remakes, it's hard to find a good movie, much less a "Best Picture." I find I'm regularly disappointed by what the Academy calls the "Best" movie of the year. "No Country..." is no exception!
Yes. Very boring as a whole and uninteresting. Awful ending too, totally agree. I literally almost fell aslepp during the movie, and I NEVER do that. The academy is usually hit or miss when picking a best picture winner. I mean, they chose Crash over Brokeback Mountain! Why would anyone do that?
So maybe next year, they will actually pick a decent film to win.
No.The only other film that I wouldve been happy getting it wouldve been Blood. Juno and Clayton were not good.
I wanted There Will Be Blood to get it, but No Country for Old Men was sick too so i cant complain.
