beacause dan thought that he had tried to kill him in a fire at his car garage and it was a kind of revenge plus deep down he was jealous of him. but once he finds out that his brother had not been the one trying to kill him he feels regret and guilt over it
Because Keith was always the better man then Dan ever would be and Keith had the woman he truly felt he loved.
over the vengence of this older brother, for having keith sleep with his wife before the divorce, after Keith has always eyed his former girl friend ( this proven when they showed a prom picture with Keith totally eyeing her), then making him look bad by taking his father position for nathan. I know many may disaggree on that last statement but the mind of a man like that is me and mine meaning no body else can touch it.
