Can anyone remember the year when Flash Gordon the movies was first broadcast in!

Question: All i can remember is it was on BBC1 on Christmas Eve when i was very young. It must have been on too late for my brother and i,,as we got up early and opened our presents and watched Flash Gordon. What a great film,, What a great Xmas

The film was made in 1980,,and i know it wasn't any later than 1986

Hope someone can nail this for me,,with the aid of an old copy of the Radio Times / TV Times,,as this has been bugging me for years.

It was definitely the Christmas Eve of 1983 - it was the last Christmas my Grandad was alive, and I remember watching it at his house. Couldn't possibly have been later, because he wasn't alive later. Couldn't have been earlier because he lived in a different house. So 1983 for sure!

I remember it cos it was the first time I got stoned. It must have been in 1985, I think.

Flash Gordon first appeared on the cinema screens about 70 years ago. It was a weekly serial at the Saturday morning show. It was usually followed by a cowboy film. Buck Jones, Tim McCoy etc. Happy Days.

NO

I think you are thinking of the 1985 series! However,The original serial film of the 1930s with Larry 'Buster' Crabbe was first broadcast on television in 1956!!

I remember going to see Flash at the local cinema when I was young and that would be in the 40s and 50s.
