The Shadow (1994)
starring Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Ian McKellen, Tim Curry, Peter Boyle, Jonathan Winters, James Hong, Sab Shimono, John Kapelos, Max Wright, Arsenio "Sonny" Trinidad, Abraham Benrubi, Larry Hankin
IMDB synopsis:
Based on the 1930s comic strip and radio series, this tale pits the hero against his arch enemy, Shiwan Khan, who plans to take over the world by holding a city for ransom using an atom bomb. Using his powers of invisibility and "the power to cloud men's minds", the Shadow comes blazing to the city's rescue with explosive results.
TRIVIA:
The Shadow (originally played by James La Curto then famously by Frank Readick) made his debut on radio in 1931 as the third-person narrator of mystery stories on "Street & Smith's Detective Story Hour". When fans of the show wrote in asking for adventures starring The Shadow himself, Street & Smith hired Walter Gibson, a magician and former ghost writer for Harry Houdini, to write a monthly series of pulp mystery novels. "The Shadow Magazine" ran until 1949 and was the most successful pulp series ever. Beginning in 1937, The Shadow starred in his own radio show, originally featuring Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston and Agnes Moorehead as Margo Lane. Other actors later played The Shadow on the radio show, which ran until 1955.

The line "The weed of crime bears bitter fruit" is taken directly from the conclusion of episodes of the radio show. At the end of every episode, after the announcer had given the credits, The Shadow would say, "The weed of crime bears bitter fruit. Crime does not pay! The Shadow knows," he then would laugh.

Back in the day, it was rumored that the Shadow's girlfriend, Margot Lane, was the sister of Superman's girlfriend, Lois Lane. This assertion appears in books by Philip José Farmer titled "Tarzan Alive" and "Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life".

Recently, I've watched this five times and love it just as much every time I see it~if this is the one you are looking for. The set designs, costumes, cinematography, effects and music are amazing, and the cast is overall very good, with John Lone a standout as the villain. I was so surprised by how good Alec Baldwin is in this. It's an old-fashioned adventure film that steers away from "camp", at least in my judgment.

If this is your film, you might want to check out "The Phantom", starring Billy Zane.

"The Shadow" staring Alec Baldwin

You're referring to "The Shadow." Based off the 1930s comics and radio serials, this 1994 film starred Alec Baldwin as dashing playboy Lamont Cranston, who, when evil lurks, becomes The Shadow. In the movie, he battles Shiwan Kahn, who, like The Shadow, has the ability to cloud people's thoughts. It's a pretty good movie, with decent special effects. Alec Baldwin is OK as the title character.
