What did you thinkof the ending for "No Country For Old Men" the movie!

Question: I just got through seeing it today and although I found the movie to be good and Javier Bolden creepy as the pyschopath, I didn't like the ending. Has anyone read the book?

A great ending. People expect there to be a shootout because there was so much action in the first half. The point of the film is that evil will reign, and Tommy Lee Jones feels guilty for not preventing what happened to Llewelyn and Carla Jean Moss. He retires because their is so much violence in the world today, as opposed to their used to be.

Also, the book is fantastic, and the ending is the same.

It's anti-climatic, yet realistic.

I didn't like it because I didn't hear half of what Tommy Lee Jones had said, then it cut off. I'll watch it again tonight and try again.

You're too used to regular movies that have to be wrapped up for you.

I think the point of it (and what Tommy Lee Jones' character came to realize), was that "evil" wll continue to exist no matter what. It will never end (so goes the movie).

Didn't see the movie, but the book was way overrated. The ending is anticlimactic, the old man retires. I'll see the movie soon, but can't imagine this as a best picture, too much violence.

it′s life, things happen without purpose or warning,,,

The book contains even more anti-climactic and pointless scenes than the movie. While I understand the whole "evil is everywhere" explanation, I think it would have been a better ending without that final scene; just leave it the way it was before Tommy Lee got on there and confused everyone.
