It's a classic underdog story. A working class kid dreams of going to Notre Dame and playing football his whole life but he's small and not that great a player. In the end he gets a shot and plays in a game. He's proud, his family is proud, his team mates are proud, even the viewers at home are proud of this kid. It's the kind of movie where you feel better about life in general when done watching it.

The 1976 original Bad News Bears because it's warm and entertaining and it doesn't take sports too seriously. The kids are transformed and the adults are transformed. After all sports are adults playing a kids game, right?
