But the difference is that those movies are aimed primarily at youngsters. I know it is annoying that they class those films as horror, we know the real horror movies out there, the best being from the 70s/80s. I suppose that kids are just getting more and more desensitized, and Hollywood is taking advantage of that I guess.

No! I want MORE PG-13 horror films because they CAN be made as good films! I'm tired of slicing and dicing people as entertainment! I'm tired of them killing off people one at a time or making them mutilate and/or kill each other! Disgust and making people ill is not horror, and they need to wake up to that!
You mention porn. Well, they call the stuff "torture porn", don't they, because too many people are responding in a very weird way to this? If Stephen King comments on it, you know it's getting bad. He remarks that it's "feeding the alligators of the mind" and noted that, most of the time, you end up with "bigger, hungrier gators". So, people keep wanting more~not more of the same but more in quantity.
I'm ready for more horror, with no more dissections and vivisections of people or any other living creature! Bloodshed within reason is expected. I'm so tired of hearing people complain about the low quality of horror films. It's going to get lower still if the filmmakers are concerned only with making their effects more and more ghastly.
You know what's the absolute worst? There are people on Y!A who say the movies aren't enough. They want to know about snuff movies! Not every "torture porn" fan is headed for something like that, but we've had films released that seem intent on capturing that hideous quality.

they make all the movies PG-13 because they know that people will pay money to see if it's actually scary or not. I work at a movie theater and the "scary" Pg-13 movies are always the best sellers. All the jr. high kids getting their fix of scary for the next week, and older teens and adults are just hopeing for something somewhat scary!!!
i think they should stop makin pg-13 "horror' movies.
