James Cameron, Steven Speilberg, or Ridley Scott?!

Question: Which of these 3 do you think is the best movie director and has directed the best movies and why?

Answers: Which of these 3 do you think is the best movie director and has directed the best movies and why?

All three have made some excellent films. It's hard to choose due to their different styles. I think Spielberg wins for me as he has made so many ground breaking films like Jaws, Close Encounters etc. Scott is superb for his grittiness and visually stunning sequences. Cameron is also superb as he does action, drama and comedy really well. I was blown away by the Abyss when it came out and his Alien movie was the best for me. I guess I'd go for Spielberg as I have fond memories of ET and Batteries Not Included. And I can't ignore Schindlers List and the work he put into Back to the Future and the Indiana Jones films. He may not have directed in some but his 'touch' was there.

Ridley Scott, because of Blade Runner. James Cameron second master of the epic, great cinematography, Spiel bergs a great obviously but a little to syrupy for me.

Speilberg is my favorite. He's so good.

cameron.

Well Speilberg has covered the widest spectrum of work from comedy to action to drama. But I enjoy Ridley Scott a lot. I particularly like Gladiator, American Gangster and Kingdom of Heaven. But I think my favorite directors aren't on your list. I'd have chosen the Coen Bros. (big fan), Paul Thomas Anderson and Martin Scorsese. If I hear that they are connected to a film, I know it's going to be worth my time.

Ridley Scott. I love his visceral approach to film making and his ability to tell a story. Blade Runner is one of the great sci-fi's of all time. His vision of Ancient Rome is stunning in Gladiator and I love the simple, wrenching action of Blackhawk Down. The latter feels so real - almost documentary in approach. I will see a movie by Rdley Scott just because his name is on it.
The other two are both accomplished but I find Cameron in need of a good editor - his films always seem bloated and not well thought through. Spielberg is too mawkishly sentimental for my tastes - I don't believe his characters. I think "The Color Purple" is one of the trashiest movies ever made. Spielberg took a gritty, well-written novel and turned it into sentimentalized, dishonest tripe.
Just my opinion though.

Ridley Scott, because of Gladiator and American Gangster.

Oh good grief that's a hard question that I can't answer sorry....but thank GOD all three exist!

James Cameron, definitely. Titianic was a really big hit in my town and in other towns close by. It stayed at the movie theaters for several weeks. Stephen Spielberg would come in second for me. I like E.T. and several other movies he has made.

its got to be steven speilberg, because hes fantastic!!!,every flick hes done the special effects are amazing.

Speilberg of course... look at his track record, I'm not going to name them...you shouldn't have to. But it's his versitality as a director, he's probably directed every genre of movie.
Cameron and Scott can't lay claim to this.

And Speilberg started the "Summer Blockbuster" way back in
1975 w/ Jaws.

ridley scott i have watched movies because he director them
