When you think of The Shining, what disturbed you the most?!

Question: How god awful ugly Shelley Duvall is.

Answers: How god awful ugly Shelley Duvall is.

The end when the kid was being chased in the maze

nothing SmArT oNe

That picture of yours.....

Dunno . . . never saw the movie . . .

I LOVE THAT MOVIE.

But perhaps the creepiest thing was either the lady in the tub that turned into a nasty old lady...or at the very end when Jack Nicholson is shown dead and frozen with that creepy look on his face.

All the paper Jack wasted writing the same thing over and over on his typewriter

Knowing that Danny was standing in a corner picking his nose because the answer lied deep within. Now go in a corner and pick your nose. The answer lies deep within.

Haha, obviously you are a large Shining fan.

What disturbed me the most was the slow process of Jack Nicholson's character becoming insane.
We watched him grow crazier and crazier each day, to the point of trying to kill his family.

Obviously the 'all work and no play makes jack a dull boy' was veerrryy creepy as well.

all the skeletons in the bar covered in cob-webs

The way he went after his poor wife played by Shelly devol (sorry about spelling) and her trying to desparately defend herself and protect their little boy against crazy Jack.

Of course it has to be the scene where he turns nuts and trys to kill the family. You should read the book it's much more psychological and in depth with the character. By my opnion the original was the best.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Ok I'm not gonna lie... The two girls freaked me out the most...

I love that you asked this question because we were just talking about that movie today! SK is one of the most amazing writers & directors... ok, I have a couple of disturbing scenes... the old lady in the bathroom, bleeding walls and my favorite- the twins- they are so creepy.... especially when they beckon him to stay with them forever... chills...

I haven't seen the whole movie, because it scared me so badly when I was little!

Definitely the part with those twin girls. Guhhh!

I still haven't read the book, because that movie scared me so badly, and I'm a big SK fan! :P I suppose I will.. eventually. ;]

It bothered me the most to think that a loving husband and father could do such a drastic change. Worse yet to be stuck in seclusion with that psycho with no where to run, and not being able to call 911 for help.

That look on Jack's face as he broke through the door....and wondering if Shelly was going to make it through that tiny window.....that snow maze was eerie also....but then again so was that hallway, you never knew what was behind the doors. Especially the one with the old lady in the tub, it still creeps me out just thinking of it. I read the book first, and then saw the movie so there was a little bit of preparing for what was to come, and that helped some.....Loved that movie the first time that I saw it !!!!!!!!! I give it a Ten !!!!!!!!!

I loved that movie. It was scary, but the part that stuck with me the most was when the little boy meets the cook, and the cook knows right away how incredible the boy is. I think its because it sets the stage for the upcoming terror and you get some insight into the fact that there are others like the kid. Shelly Devall was great in that, wasn't she? One other part that freaked me out was the twin girls, even typing this I get chills.

The Shining? Well, Shelly Duvall's acting was pretty disturbing. J/K.
That movie really creeped me out when I was younger. I remember finding the ghosts of those twin girls rather eerie. "Come play with us Danny." Ahh, no thanks girls, I gotta get out of here.

Redrum. Redrum. Redrum

The real shocker was when Shelly Duvall looks at what she thinks is the manuscript that Jack Nicholson is working on and page after page she see the words"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" over and over and over again!!!!!!

i think the twin girls in the hallway freaked me out more than anything

The two twin girls! They gave me nightmares. And the lady in the bathtub who becomes old.

Every single time that kid rolls around the hallways....it's just utterly creepy

I was disturbed that Stanley Kubrick ignored most of the book and came up with too many shortcuts. Why couldn't he have them bring the topiaries to life?! He claimed it couldn't be done! This is from the man who did "2001: A Space Odyssey" long before CGI!

I dislike the casting. Jack Nicholson starts out nutsy and goes from there; so, there is no breakdown really. He's already crazy! Shelley Duvall as Wendy is wrong because she's played as so ineffectual, a blithering idiot who doesn't have a clue of what's going on. She is supposed to be the source of Danny's gift!

I think Kubrick fumbled severely on this film. I believe "The Shining" is Stephen King's masterpiece; it's brilliantly written, with a wonderful structure to it. Kubrick completely ignored the boiler, which is such a pivotal symbol. He was too busy filming kinky scenes, and that disappoints me drastically. Also, why let Hallorann get to the hotel THEN kill him immediately when that doesn't happen in the novel?! It's just a foolish change.

An awful lot of "The Shining" disturbs me~only not in the way you might mean your question. I was too upset with the interpretation to find any of it creepy!

Michael Jackson With His Sack of Suprises.

The picture of the twins flashing on the screen!
Or maybe the two guys in costumes in a room!

Those two scenes REALLY creeped me out...
