I am looking for the title of a movie, can you help me?!

Question: It is about the Marquis de Sade and his favorite pastime.

Answers: It is about the Marquis de Sade and his favorite pastime.

Quills (2000)
starring Geoffrey Rush, Kate Winslet, Michael Caine, Billie Whitelaw, Joaquin Phoenix
IMDB synopsis:
The infamous writer the Marquis de Sade of 18th century France is imprisoned for unmentionable activities at Charanton Insane Asylum. He manages to befriend the young Abbe de Coulmier, who runs the asylum, along with Madeline, a beautiful laundress. Things go terribly wrong when the Abbe finds out that the Marquis' books are being secretly published. Emperor Napolean contemplates sending Dr. Royer-Collard to oversee the asylumn, a man famed for his torturous punishments. It could mean the end of Charanton and possibly the Marquis himself.
TRIVIA:
Jane Menelaus, Geoffrey Rush's real-life wife, plays de Sade's wife.

The tune that the Marquis keeps humming throughout the film is the French children's song "Au Clair de la Lune", the second line of which becomes increasingly relevant. Roughly translated, it is "Lend me your quill so I can write a word".

Others films about this notorious fellow are:
Sade (2000)
aka De Sade
starring Daniel Auteuil, Marianne Denicourt, Jean-Pierre Cassel
lIMDB synopsis:
Many noble families are locked in a chateau due to the French Revolution. The infamous Marquis de Sade is there and is generally shunned by the others. A teenage girl befriends him behind her parents' back and learns about him and life in general.

Marquis de Sade (1996)
aka Dark Prince
starring Nick Mancuso, Janet Gunn, John Rhys-Davies, Charlotte Nielsen
IMDB synopsis:
Based on the true story of the notorious Marquis de Sade. In 18th century Paris, an innocent beauty's search for her missing sister leads her into the deadly sensuous realm of the infamous Marquis de Sade. Imprisoned for his sordid crimes, the Marquis likewise has the beauty morally trapped, for she must help him complete his banned book of lust or never learn the fate of her sister. It becomes a test of wills and wit as the Marquis attempts to convert her to his philosophy. When the Marquis escapes his prison, she must follow him to his remote chateau to finally discover her sister's fate and to face her own.

De Sade (1969)
starring Keir Dullea, Senta Berger, Lili Palmer, Anna Massey, John Huston (?!)
IMDB review:
Looking at it today, this film is a pretty tame story of the infamous DeSade, but at least it is the highest-budget version of the story, with a much better cast for this sort of material. ... Keir Dullea makes a very convincing DeSade without overacting, and John Huston brings integrity to the film with his powerful presence. And, the soundtrack is very good; the only thing odd is the beginning credit animation sequence, which looks like it came out of a psychedelic film! Still, check it out if you want to see a "Hollywood" version of the infamous character, told way too many times in cheapo Euro versions!

Marquis (1989 Belgium/France)
IMDB synopsis:
The scene is a pre-French Revolution Bastille, where various political prisoners are being held: a woman who was raped and impregnated by the king, a police chief who was accused of selling bad pork, and the Marquis de Sade, who was unjustly accused of working for the overthrow of the king. The Marquis is only interested in writing his deviant stories and... (Well, he IS the Marquis). ... Things come to a head as the people rise up against the tyranny.

I'm sure there are more films about the Marquis. "Quills" is the most-noted version, even receiving attention at the Academy Awards, including a Best Actor nomination for Geoffrey Rush.
