Are you sure you aren't thinking of Rock Hudson. He starred in a Howard Hawks movie called Man's Favorite Sport. He plays fishing expert named Roger Willoughby, who has never been fishing and doesn't even like to eat fish. Paula Prentis co stars and it was released in 1964
