Is There Will be Blood a good movie, or is it overrated?!

Question: Terrific movie in nearly every single way. The direction, cinematography, acting, screenplay were all top notch. I think Daniel Day Lewis' performance is one of the best in long time. Having said that, a lot of people did not like the film, claiming its too long, too boring, nothing exciting happens, not enough action, very little dialouge, weird ending, no big name stars in it, abiguous/hard to identify meaning and symbloism, etc.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and it is perfectly understandable that some people do like it. It is an arthouse picture, not a big studio blockbuster - which turns a lot of people off.
The movie warrants watching if you consider yourself a film buff or like these types of movies or if you are a fan of writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson who also made such great films as "Boogie Nights," "Magnolia," and "Punch-Drunk Love"
I would definetley reccommend it, but you just have to know what you're getting yourself into.

It is definetly a GREAT movie but it is a little over rated.

Great movie, one of the better ones I have seen recently (I have seen Atonement, No country for old men, Margot at the wedding, the Kite runner, Darjeeling Limited, Charlie Wilson's war, Lust caution) and this one really grabbed me.
Music and sound effects were contributing alot, but Daniel Day-Lewis' performance is what you are really going to see. It is menacing, commanding and makes you shiver. The scenery is very impressive too and it is a delight to see it on the big screen. I definitely want to read the book too.
