Yes he was in Awake. As for his acting ability I think the jury is still out on that. You really can't take his work in the Star Wars movies as a "real" test of his acting because Lucas is the master of bad dialog. On the action side of it though I thought he was very good at it at least in Star Wars. If you've never picked up a sword or foil and tried to learn how to use them you can't appreciate his talent in that area. He and Ewan did 100s of hours of practice to get that final duel to the place it had to be. In the entire saga this duel was the one that every fan wanted to see and they didn't disappoint. I do have to disagree with whoever it was that said that Ewan did a bad job in his role for Star Wars ... I will be the first to admit that when it first broke that he had been picked to play Obi-Wan I was very disappointed but he proved me wrong. By ep III he had become Alec Geneis... in the end he was the perfect person to portray Obi-Wan. Natalie Portman got "weighed" down by bad dialog as she is a very good actress, IMHO anyways, her work in The Professional was outstanding as were her roles in other movies ... the Star Wars "jinx" won't get her.
As for Hayden, I haven't seen Awake or Jumper but I've heard mixed reviews on them, In the end I think he is a "raw" talent that needs some instruction on how to act and if he gets it he will turn out to be a very good actor ... if not he'll always be able to say that he was Darth Vader. There are a whole bunch of actors who wish they could say that.

I think he is cute but in no way do I consider him to be a good actor. He is strictly eye candy.

i hated him star wars. the problem is that he has no chemistry with the other actors. whenever he does act he can never be believeable.
He's an awful actor. Zero charisma. No charm. Cardboard.

I'd like to think that he is, and I support him because he's Canadian, but I'm beginning to doubt whether he has a decent acting role in him.
He was his usual robotic self in JUMPER, haven't seen Awake but it looks like he did good. Haven't seen Life as a House or Shattered Glass, but I hear he was decent in it.
He's just wooden and emotionless on screen. Maybe this is the casting's problem, because he doesn't seem to be made for action flicks, but he still needs to buck up his acting skills.

My opinion is right alongside yours. Star Wars though off the entire acting Careers of all the decent actors and actresses in the new trilogy. As for his ownacting credit outside of SW... well I have yet to see Jumper. I have seen him in Life as House and felt he did rather well. He was believable in his role. He fit the character, and that may be the biggest reason as to why it worked so well for him. I'll know better for sure after I see his newest release.
