If your asking what he meant by this I'm going to guess that he warned Bruce before that he should mind his surroundings,
and when Bruce finally got the upper hand over him the victory didn't mean anything... he still fell through the ice. He sacrificed the brilliant move or "sure footing" for a killing stroke by falling through the ice...not minding his surroundings. The lesson was, you must take every situation into account before you deliver your end result
