A movie mystery, which has been prying on my mind, for years???!
Question: Klingons, in the classic 'Star Trek" T.V. series, looked a specific way; then, in 1980, the now-classic sci-fi adventure, "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" depicted the Klingons, appearance-wise, in a much different (and much uglier) manner. In the course of the 'Star Trek' mythos, has anyone ever explained the reason for this???

...I don't think that this 'phenomenon' has EVER really been explained; however, if I recall correctly, in an episode of "Deep Space Nine", with something having to do with the classic series' 'Tribble' episode', even the character of Worf was supposedly unwilling to give an acceptable explanation for this...
