christian bale is very good right now. he transforms himself a lot. as does daniel day-lewis who was a worthy oscar recipient last night.
Hm - I usually don't have a favorite actor or consider one to be "the best" but I was recently impressed by Jude Law's acting ability in Cold Mountain. He naturally has a British accent - so I was wondering how he was going to pull off a thick southern accent - but he surprisingly did so in a convincing manner.

Russel Crowe by far is one of the best, my favorite actor. He can play a brute who watns revenge in Gladiator, an outlaw in 3:10 to Yuma and then an intelligent man with schizophrenia in a Beautiful Mind. He is a very talented man.
De Niro takes it for me, as he can play tough, he can play funny and he can play funny tough
I think leonardo Dicaprio is the greatest actor... he has done ALOT of different characters and he always steals the show in every movie he is in...

I like Michael Cera becuase:
a. he is in arrested development and
b. he is funny
But i guess he doesn't play very many styles. Hardly any hollywood actors do. I like Johnny Depp though because he is one of the few good actors left who doesn't just go in mainstream films but acts in the stranger ones, the ones who's plots aren't as normal as the others. He also has a wide range of acting styles which i enjoy.
