Is it natural to be offended from watching many hollywood movies who streotype r!

Question: i dont know but ive seen way too many hollywood action movies and alot of them bring up russians as some dumb, coward, evil maniac, i dont know i dont get upset about it but finding out many hollywood movies picture russians as bad guys kinda disturbs me? is it natural cause sometimes i watched James Bond or some movie or tv show it brings up having russian as a evil coward, maniac ,stupid etc, ive seen rare occassions where russians are pictured as good people, i dont mind a few movies showing russians as bad guys, but wat really is annoying is having so many movies sterotype russians, there is a russian movie that has some american criminals in it and ive seen many americans get angry? i dont know but why do we have to sit and watch and let hollywood show russians, germans etc as bad guys and then hear americans complain about one movie that shows a few of their guys as bad guys, when they have many movies sterotyping other nationaities, i have nothing against americans btw

I can see why you would feel this way and I think that it is a product of the long standing Cold War between our two nations. As an American born in the 1960's I can recall the tension between America and the Soviet Union and know that this is probably where this stereotype resulted from. If it is any consolation, my sons are probably going to see Middle Eastern badguys in their favorite action movies as films follow global poitical trends. I myself dislike racial profiling even in the arts but unfortunately I think it is here to stay. We can only do our part by boycotting industries and products that promote it. By doing this and teaching our children tolerance we can effect change one person at a time.
One of my favorite quotes is:
"All that is needed for evil to triumph is for one good man to do nothing."
Take care my friend.

Well, the Russians were the bad guys for decades, if you lived in the West.

Well ye u have every right 2 be there stereotyping..

I've never thought of this from your point of view before, but I can definitely see where you are coming from, and I think you have every right to be offended. Maybe you should write some films with Russians as the good guys for once! In all seriousness though, I think this probably has its roots in the cold war and I don't think there is much you can do about it. I guess you'll just have to grit your teeth and watch something else.

US has to blame someone for all their faults...otherwise they would have to look at themselves! What horrors they would see.
Anyway film ain't real!

Actually, I would say that the majority of villains in movies and on television tend to be "homegrown". Most of them that I see are Americans.

Anyway, no matter which group is selected to be the villain, there always will be accusations of prejudice and stereotyping. Writers are running out of people to be villains I think. I've heard various complaints over the past decades and came to the conclusion that the only places writers are safe are in science fiction, fantasy and some horror. Of course, some will protest if they think the aliens, creatures and monsters seem too much like one group or the other. That means the poor writers soon have their hands tied, figuratively, not knowing who should be bad guys.

In "Die Hard", they sort of mixed it up with their fake terrorist group. Maybe writers should do more of that: a mixed group of criminals.
