Was No Country For Old Men Overrated?!

Question: I say yes. Tommy Lee Jones was like 5 hours behind everyone else in the movie and he did nothing. The car accident ending was tacked on and added nothing to the story except to show that he was badass. Anybody who finds drug money in the desert should know not to carry it around in its original container for fear of tracking devices. The only good thing was the hitman. When he finally found the tracking device why didn't he throw it out the friggin window? The whole movie was slow and drawn out. I also dislike Fargo but i'm not getting into that.

I agree with you!
My question is why did he stay around after he found the money to begin with!
If you come across a large sum of money that you're not going to turn into the cops then you should assume someone would come after you.. he should have evacuated with his wife.

Overall, i didn't relate to the lead character and that's important in a film.

NO no no no, it's brilliant. And so is Fargo but I'm not getting into that.

I liked this movie even before it was wide released and before I heard any of the hype about it.
I'm going to list a few scenes that stood out for me:
When Josh Brolin's character decides to go back to the shootout and he's chased by federali's and their dog. That was intense.
I liked the gas attendant seen where he asks hm to call it and the dialogue btw him and the attendant was well acted and scripted.
When the hitman walks into the motel scene after hearing his receiver go off was highly charged and due to the film editing , you don't know what he will encounter when he goes to the room.
I think you would probably need an appreciation for dialogue and movie directing and a fascination for the reason behind human behaviour to really enjoy this film.
I'm not saying it's a perfect film (for example, how did the hitman find Brolin's character after the 2nd motel? I doubt he would be stupid enough to be checking in under his real name since he was paying cash) but it is very well done.
The crash might be a way of saying that the bad guy doesn't always get away scot-free i n the end... that there is some universal cosmic power that balances everything out. The universe flipped a coin on him and the result was that he was able to walk away from it. Same for Tommy Lee who in the beginning of the film was contemplating retirement until he gets involved with this case.
It's a great modern-day western movie.

i watched it online, and it took 4 hours to watch, but it was interesting. i haven't seen any of the other oscar nominees for best picture to make a judgment, but i guess i would have to watch it again. the server kept taking forever, so it kept loading in a few seconds here and there. i had to alternate with different servers to watch it thru. i guess you have to have to really be into filmmaking to enjoy this. This isn't just one of those "i watched it, and it was good" or "I watched it, and i hated it" type of movies. There are connections in the movie between the characters. There are signs and omens and hints of what's to come.
