Two people in love seperated by a combination of a lie and World War 2, and the girl who lied growing up realising her mistake.
When I write it out, it doesn't seem that exciting, but it's a very good movie.
Basically, a kid falsely accuses her sister's lover of a crime, that's about it without spoiling it. It's a very good film.
Some stupid love story.
Fantastic movie.
It's about a young, rich girl who thinks she understands a scene she sees between her sister and a young man (servant) who works on their estate. She has a vivid imagination and loves to write plays.
The story revolves around accusations she makes about the servant boy, and a whole entire series of events that take place as she, her sister and the servant become adults.
Think about the word "atonement," and you'll understand that the girl tries to atone for the guilt she feels about what happened so long ago.
I understand the book is fantastic, too, and it's next on my list of books to read.
The film is lush, beautiful cinematography, and the acting is great. But it's the story that hooks you. It is full of twists and turns, including the most shocking twist in its final scenes.
Don't miss this movie. I'm sure the Oscars tonight will have some clips, since it's nominated for best film.
