Were other Superman fans disappointed with the movie "Superman Returns"!

Question: I sure was. They made Superman seem really emo in this movie, I hated the twist at the end where he turns out he's the father of Lois' illegitimate son. Another thing that pissed me off was they made the movie a sequel of the first two movies. First of all, Christopher Reeve owned the role of Superman in those movies, hands down. There was no point trying to replace him with a new guy and trying to continue that series. And another thing, there were so many different things they could've done with Superman instead of making a sequel to movie that's almost like thirty-years-old. I was hoping for a "reboot" or a modern-update like they did to Batman in 2005's Batman Begins. SR director Bryan Singer said the reason his movie was so similar to the 1978 original was because he wanted it to be a homage to it. In my opinion, that's just a waste of talent, because we can watch it when we want to remember it. Feel free to share your opinion, I don't care weather you agree or disagree with me.

Yes...It tried to look and feel like the older Superman movies with Christopher Reeve.

Nothing against those films, but the new one should have tried to do something new and innovative.

I was also disappointed,it had so many loop holes in the story it just seemed pointless. The casting was terrible all around,it was a huge disappointment considering Singers other works like X-men,and Usual Suspects.
I agree the '78 version with Reeve was much more believable and a better story(and cast).

i was also disappointed. How can you do a sequel 30yrs after the first.
What was wierd to me was the fact that Lois was like 40 in the first ones, now she is in her late 20's?

Yes I was specifically from the standpoint that it added disgusting elements such as the dog eating the other dog that added nothing to the plot.

Then there was the scene with Superman and Parker Posey, (long, boring and makes me happy I have fast forward on my remote).

Come to think of it, of all the Superman movies (IV included) I only want to fast forward through parts of Returns.
