How do they make horror films with such young actors?!

Question: E.g. the omen - Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick plays Damien, but he wouldn't be able to watch the film, and how would he be able to act such scary scenes without getting totally freaked out?

are there any child actors which making these films has had a bad effect on them? - especially when they watch the film back, they'll be thinking 'what the hell am I doing??!!!'

I remember the little girl who played 'Regan' in the Exorcist, (real name escapes me at the moment) being asked the same thing in an interview, years later after this film was released.

She said that she acted her part only in 'small sections' and it was all made out to be 'fun' rather than scary. Her mum was present, and she was rewarded with sweets...
how she did that film to this day though, and at a young age, is totally beyond me !!!

She said she never saw the whole movie, until years later, and how it scared even her when pieced together.

it is called MONEY!!!!!!

The shoot the scenes in such a way that the young actor isn't subjected to the horror parts. The kid who was in The Shining, for instance, didn't even know what the movie was altogether about until he was older.

Well half of the scary parts in a horror movie is special affects so the young actors wouldnt see it!

Im not actually sure.

My personal opinion is, even if they DO watch the film, they don't get so freaked out by it, because they recognise the characters in it, to be someone they know in real-life, rather than some crazy guy in a scary movie.

horror films are not real matey....which im sure the actors know...being as they are on set and dont see the finished effects.

Well, for The Shining, the young boy "Danny Torrance" (played by Danny Lloyd) didn't even know it was a horror film. He simply did what the directors told him to do, and it didn't even phase him. This is what they probably do now.

This also applies to police shows about child abuse.

The children have no idea what it is they're filming.

Its so they can make as many sequals and spin offs as possible

i said the same thing to my hubby the other day. i wouldn't let any of my kids play in a horror

Considering the crew are there? Their parents are on set? They meet the actors playing bad guys and monsters, who are probably nice to them? They know it's pretend? Everyone makes a fuss of them and they stop for tea?

Come on!

must admit I have thought this myself but I guess they are shown how all the scenes work to lessen the impact I guess. x
