It seems they are running out of ideas. They keep remaking movies and the new version usually sucks. I have to say i find more entertainment in older movies then newer ones. The new ones are all the same. Almost same story line! Oh and if one more movie comes out that has the weird people walking down stairs and hallways like the ring i am going to scream!

The Ring had the weird girl crawling out of the TV walking all weird. Now here are some other movies that have either a similar or almost exact same story line:
The Grudge, Dark Water, One missed Call, The Eye... I could go on and on

Oh and the guy above me i TOTALLY disagree with. The acting is better? Oh i get it your making a joke because there is no way the acting and scripts have gotten better.

Amen to that.

All these movies are pathetic.. its all horror or badly written love stories..

Except, i do love Juno and the Notebook.. but the movies like Disturbia were really fake and poorly written :\

I think they are running out of ideas for movies. They have to be careful of the copyrights of older movies to make new ones too. I think that's why they are making all these movies that are take-offs from older T.V. shows. It's kind of sad actually.

they have nothing better to do than make crappy remakes

The problem is not the lack of new ideas. The problem is the corporation of the entertainment industry. The same thing has happened with music. Studios keep trying to copy things that have had success in order to reproduce that success, rather than allowing directors and writers to be creative. Creative works are a risk, and studios are not willing to make that risk... although their plan is obviously not working based on ticket sales the past decade. Of course, they use a straw man, pirating, as their excuse for that. It's a old, sick system that needs to be replaced, but it won't happen so long as people are stupid enough to spend $10 on a ticket to a bad movie.

wait...

It's a matter of what you're looking for. Today's movies try to provide for popcorn fun instead of creating attachment. It's hard to find films that matter but there are some good ones out there, such as: Juno, No Country For Old Men, Gone Baby Gone, American Gangster...so forth.

Somebody finally said it.
I remember when you could judge a movie by who was in it, and know it was good.
Now even popular actor/actresses do really crappy movies.
Eternal sunshine -EW
and that is just one.
I think that they can get funding much more easily than it used to be, and with so many other ways to release a film beside just cinematic releases, the quality has suffered greatly.

Isn't that the truth, I cannot remember the last time I even remotely thought "Wow, that looks like a great movie!". I agree no story lines or they are "remakes" of something done years ago. It is UNFORTUNATE :o(

I disagree. Standards for Hollywood have been raised much higher. Everything HAS been thought of. So ideas need to be rehashed and new original type twists are needed to go above and beyond. Acting IS better, scripting IS better, sounds, picture and effects BETTER.

Nothing happened to movies. People are just longing for something new, but it's just not out there ideawise.
