Most people have always had a fascination with dinosaurs, perhaps it is because so many of them were so much bigger than we are, perhaps it is because of their incredible physical adaptations, perhaps it is the mystery of them-since we are learning more about them all the time, but also still know so little about them. Jurassic Park put this all out on the screen, just the very idea that we could actually see dinosaurs up close is incredible. The fact that actual paleontologists were not only contacted, but also served as advisors and even actors, adds a tremendous credibility to the story, and it is an enviable profession. People probably didn't realize they were learning just a little bit, by watching the movie--not something that can be said about most fictional pieces. At the time, the special effects surpassed what had been done before--a 50 foot T-Rex bending down to look in the jeep's window---far stretch from the rubber dorsal fins "waving" in Jaws. The colors, the sound effects, the machinery that fleshed out the dinosaurs, it was all pretty new for the time, and were so much more realistic than what had been done before. With surround sound advancements in the theaters, the roars, shook the room, what you would expect the real thing would have done. Everyone could come away from the movie, not only with a favorite human character, but also with a favorite dinosaur. Hollywood knew that it would be a hit, but I don't know if anyone really realized that it would become the phenomenon that it did. Plus with the production crew that was involved, people knew it would be worth it to go see, just for that reason. The movies and books allow us to see our imagination, our fascination, our wildest dreams, brought out in front of us. And there are just a lot of cool quotes, especially in the first one. Hard to believe it has already been 15 years. Wow.

Yes, its rubbish!

1. Jurassic park is all that because it set the bar for special effects-laden movies; because it was directed by steven spielberg, because it was a dinosaur movie & most of all because it's just plain awesome
2. Because of the realistic rendering of the dinosaurs
3. People's fascination with dinosaurs, groundbreaking special effects & steven spielberg
4. i have to look it up on wikipedia...hahaha
