Question: I just saw the reaping with Hillary Swank in it and could someone explain to me why they needed Hillary Swank to kill the girl? Why couldn't they do it? I admit I got confused in the end.

it's been a while since i rented that movie, so the details are fuzzy but this is what i remember/think...
so the satanist cult in the town are trying to bring about the coming of "the perfect child" or the Devil's own son/daughter. to do so they were to kill all second born children which explains all the remains of children at the (graveyard?) site. the town tried to kill the girl Loren as she was a second born. her older brother couldn't kill her and was killed instead. what the cult found out was that Loren was the angel sent to get rid of the cult, and she could not be harmed by them (as explained by Swank's priest friend over the phone). so the cult needed an outsider to kill the girl for them. i think there was also the issue of Swank being a believer for it to work, but i forget.
but i think that's what happened and why. but i still feel there are loose ends i'm not tying up very nicely. sorry, but i hope this helped out some.
