What do you think about movies that...?!

Question: I was just wondering what everyone thought about certain movies. The movie "Vantage Point" is coming out soon and it got me thinking. The movie generally is about the President of the United States being shot. Movies like this and other movies like "Shooter" [with Mark Wahlberg] depict important figueres being shot/killed. And also, movies that show how one person could potentially anthrax or infect with some deadly disease the entire world by doing something. Do you think movies like this are bad? Do you think that they put ideas into peoples heads?

[And I just thought I would say that I have no real opinion on the subject. I like pretty much all movies but I do think that the more realistic the action in the movie, the more realistic the possibility of something like that actually happening.]

I'll take this as a two-part question.

I think the realism factor exists because if it's just John Smith getting shot, who really cares? The writers want you to think about the consequences of these actions. ("Vantage Point" adds a whole other dimension; the man who was shot was not actually the president but a stand-in for the president so that he didn't have to attend the event. He is tempted to issue a statement that he's alive and well, but what would the world think if they found out he'd been using a double when he didn't want to attend a function?)

On the second part, no, I don't think these movies put ideas into people's heads. Psychopaths and sociopaths who shoot people, bomb buildings, whatever -- they've got it in their minds to harm people, and while they may see a movie and say, "Yeah, the president would be a great target", they were already willing to go and kill someone. For instance, you hear about a lot of people being dissatisfied with George Bush. Is "Vantage Point" going to make these people run out and attempt to assassinate him? No. Well-balanced people do not commit such acts. The people who do commit crimes were already predispositioned to do such a thing.

no i dont think they give any1 ideas. not unless they were completely crazy!! i absolutely love the film ''shooter''...i only saw it the other night 4 the 1st time nd i loved it.

shooter was real good. I loved it. I own it too.
