"Apocalypse now".. Watch it over and over again and still can't get my head around it. Bloody good film

Platoon imo
Apocalypse Now, by quite a way. It's a powerful, provocative piece of cinema I'm certain will never be forgotten. Two scenes made the film for me, and without spoiling anything, one iconic moment features the late marlon brando battling off-screen addictions whilst still maintaining his exceptional on-screen charisma.
Not even a comparison. Apocalypse Now was much better.
Better actors (Martin Sheen will always be a better actor than his son)...okay, even given that we are also dissing Will Dafoe

Better story - just...a better story...
Neither one is any good. You want a movie that tells the truth about Viet Nam, watch "We Were Soldiers" based on the true life book "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" by Lt. Gen. Hal Moore and Joseph L. Galloway. The only other Viet Nam era movie that is any good is John Wayne in "The Green Berets".
