...perhaps you may not be aware, but Sam RAIMI'S cult classic horror flick itself, was definitely inspired by an earlier '70's shlock/campy horror flick; given the opportunity, might I suggest that you check out the 1970 film, "Equinox"...
...the uncanny similarities between these two films, are far from coincidental....

I assume you've seen "Evil Dead II" and "Army of Darkness".
You should also check out "Dead Alive", an early Peter Jackson movie ("Meet the Feebles" another of his movies, is also completely insane - its like "The Muppets" on crack). I also liked "Shaun of the Dead" a lot.
im not sure but was "dead alive" that movie where they are sitting at the table and the woman touches her face and puss comes flying out and lands in the mans dessert and he eats it?!? if so, that grossed me out so bad! lmao
