My nephew and I had that exact discussion last night. I extended the deadline to 1985, I think, maybe 1990. After all, The Who did "Squeezebox" and Talking Heads did "Stay Up Late" so there was still some Rock & Roll being made!
After then, though, all music sucks.
Hm, I don't agree with this statement at all. I suppose it depends on your taste in music. I, for one, hated Janis Joplin and she's supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread back then.
I also love every kind of music except Rap and really twangy Country, so my taste for music is really broad and I love most things, as long as it can make me move or feel.
But there was a lot of good music made since 1980, not everything is "The Thong Song" and therefore crap anymore.
