How is the movie cloverfield based on the fall out boy album infinity on high?!

Question: in pete wentz's blog he writes:
Drew Goddard, who we're a big fan of, from buffy the vampire slayer and lost wrote this movie and based much of it on infinity on high- which i didn't learn until after i'd seen the movie. now in retrospect he pointed to some of the lines specifically, mostly on "the takeover". its interesting to see someone else's interpretation of your songs. anyway, if you get a chance check out the movie (and keey your eyes open at the end).

i saw the movie last night, but i just can't seem to figure out how they had anything to do with eachother. if anyone knows or even has an idea, please let me know, cause it's really bugging me. thanks :D

the inspiration from cloverfield had nothing to do with infinity on high. in an interview, JJ abrahm's said that the inspiration came from a trip to japan with his family. while in japan, he and his son saw all of the godzilla toys. this made JJ have think that america needed a giant monster they could call their own. thus, the idea for cloverfield was born.

I haven't seen the movie, so I can't cite any specifics, but I did read an interview where the writer said that he felt he had been heavily influenced by that album because he was listening to it the entire time he was writing the screenplay.

I know it's vague, but he didn't give any specifics in the interview either.

According to MTV News, Drew Goddard has denied there is any literal connection to the album. Check out this MTV News clip:

no it's loosely based upon a particularly nasty eating binge Hillary had a few years back when she trashed a few large cities with her MASSIVE HAUNCHES...
