he was a great actor.Jaws is still fun to watch and Blue Thunder.I saw another movie with him and I cant remember the name.It was a thriller-something in the titile about a devil-I think-I just cant remember but I liked it.

yes good actor

He just recently died?!?! I thought he died a while ago.

Yes, I remember him. Jaws was one of the most popular films of the late 70s. RIP Roy.

Oh, that sucks. He was a cool guy.

great actor but i think hes been dead :( for a while

Sad. :(

Oh. What a waste. He was a real talented actor. My faves with him in would be "Jaws", "Blue Thunder" and "Cohen and Tate". He wasn't really making movies recently....

Yes. A fine actor. And I believe he died awhile ago.

Yes. He was a great actor.

To the people saying he died awhile ago... It was the guy who played Quint who died a while ago, not Roy Scheider. Scheider has continued to make movies right up until this year. His most recent (Iron Cross) is still in post-production.

Too bad. He was a good actor.

Considering that he had multiple bouts of rheumatic fever as a child and wasn't expected to survive, it's amazing that he made it to 75. He had the willpower to lose weight and exercise until he strengthened his body. I remember how he amazed people with the way he did pushups in "The Marathon Man".

He was a reliable actor that turned out to have durability, remaining the lead man or near the top of the credits, which IS creditworthy. While most people think of him in "Jaws"~a truly memorable role, I think he's most impressive in "All That Jazz", Bob Fosse's semi-autobiographical film. Scheider as a dancer and choreographyer had many people doubtful, but he certainly proved himself. Like many actors (and actresses), he started out in soap operas~"The Edge of Night" in his case.

About a week ago, I finally saw "The Curse of the Living Corpse" (1964), his film debut in which he was a great villain and already had much of his style in place. Maybe AMC will run this again in his memory, along with the well-known films.

Personal quote:
"The important thing is to do good work, no matter what medium you do it in."

Yes, I remember him very well. And he just died as you say. Just because someone is out of sight doesn't mean they're dead.

man, that 's too bad. he was great in jaws and all that jazz

Roy Richard Scheider (November 10, 1932 - February 10, 2008) was an Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-nominated American actor... i dont remember him i have seen the movie jaws may Roy Richard Scheider

REST IN PEACE

Yes, I liked his work a lot.
