Question: yes i liked the movie very much. i though it was a little long but it was very well written. it's how we big girls feel sometimes,but where as here in the states we are not appreciated as much,but in africa honey we are queens. some tribes have the brides family fatten her up before the wedding if she's too skinny.lol
i would watch more movies w/plus size girls and i'm thankful my hubby likes big girls,so i can eat whatever i want.lol
my favorite part was when she punched the guy out for calling her not only a b*tch but a fat b*tch.
i have many african friends and they have told me that african men love the big girls ,maybe you're the exception.

yes, the movie was basically saying that you can look good whether you are big or small which is a very positive idea. i think it would be cool to see more movies like this.
I didn't like Phat Girlz, not because it was based on the story of a plus-size African American woman, but because of its thin, extremely predictable storyline, and the African stereotypes it carried (I'm African myself, I'd know).
Still, I appreciate movies featuring plus-size women, especially those that incorporate their size into the storyline to dazzling effect. I can't quite think of any right now, except 'Kiss My Act' which stars Camryn Manheim from 'The Practice' and 'Palindromes' directed by Todd Solondz.
