Best Tarantino Film?!

Question: What's the best? I'd have to say Resevoir dogs

Answers: What's the best? I'd have to say Resevoir dogs

Pulp Fiction. Tarantino was fresh and new, and everyone was waiting for this one to come out, and it didn't dissapoint.

It's a movie of it's time. An event, as much as it was a movie; Tarantino-philes were eager to see this and were glad of the attention he and the movie was recieving off of the back of Reservoir Dogs, even though the Mary Whitehouse esque Tory fuckheads, naysayers, and politicians turned film critics and censors, were doing their best to ruin it for everyone to better their political careers, the movie got an 18 rating and was instantly successful and a great follow up to the less refined Reservoir Dogs, but still of the Genre/Tarantino world.

Fun, violent, sexy, comic, great music, great actors. John Travolta returning to the big screen, as a hitman??!!, alongside before he was famous, badass Samuel L. Jackson!

Everybody got this movie, and if you don't like it today, it's because you saw it too many times when it came out or it's becuase so many imitators have since been copying it's style. And I don't mean just it's movie style - I mean copying it culturally - It transcended it's movie roots and was influencing music, arts, TV; if someone could figure out how to look cool in shades and a suit without looking more like John Belushi than John Travolta, clothes would have been next.

Remember that weird moment in the mid nineties where radio was playing more cheesy retro 70's boogie (like 10,000% more), films like 'Two Days In The Valley', 'Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead' were being made, Barry Sonnenfeld was directing Get Shorty; based on a book by Elmore Leonard.

I can't help but think that, and the film culture of the time was abuzz with a certain vibe.

We got that vibe first from Tarantino; Pulp Fiction unequivocally kicked off a brief sub-culture/pop phenomenon.

And it was cooooool.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 - fabulous cinematography....that fight scene in the snow with Lucy Liu & Uma Thurman....brilliant!!!!; or

Pulp Fiction.......loved the story line, plus it re-launched John Travolta's career.

Kill Bill vol 1 & 2 love the eye scene in the second one.

pulp fiction.
His latest ones (death proof & the one before it) were CRAP.

kill bill for me then pulp fiction

killing zoe one of his first films and still one of the best.

pulp fiction because it's badass!

Pulp Fiction, hands down.
Followed by Reservoir Dogs.
I thought Kill Bill 1 sucked, 2 was good.

pulp fiction...or hostel...

Sorry to jump on the band wagon but........ Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill 1 is pretty damn good. I'm afraid to say that Death Proof was not very good. Somebody above me said "Hostel" and somebody else said "Killing Zoe", Tarantino didn't direct those films!!!!

?Pulp Fiction?

Aaron...

----

The other movies
were / are C.R.A.P. --- Sorry.

3-D Hannah Montana: Best of both worlds show, hands down =\

Kill Bill Vol.1 - The animation of O-Ren Ishii parents death scene was amazing.
Lucy Lui, GoGo, Sofia Fatale...ruthless.
Love the story line.

I hate to stray from the crowd here but I actually liked Jackie Brown it had a very interesting story and great actors.

Pulp Fiction was so unique when it was made I have to go with that.

Kill Bill

Reservoir dogs for me as well.

Reservoir Dogs.

It is without doubt his best film. I think his others tend to have too much emphasis on simply being kitsch and cool and a little bit retro. RD is totally about the characters and the tension.

I love Tarantino, but I can't help feeling that after Pulp Fiction's success, his films have slowly gotten weaker and weaker. Now, they're all style and no actual content.

Before everyone crucifies me though, let me just say this - even a poor Tarantino film (taking RD as a benchmark) stands head and shoulders above most directors' 'best' films.

He's so cool, he's so cool....

Pulp of course.
