I always assumed she was telling Lester the truth, because she's very vulnerable at that moment and her usual b.s. falls by the wayside. Whereas with Jane she sort of has that phony hard-*** pose that a lot of teenagers try to pull off ... she's trying to seem more exciting and reckless than she really is.
