In cloverfield, what were the first explosions?!
Question: Possible spoiler warning, but then why would you read this if you haven't seen the film.
Anyway, assuming that the splash at the end of the film is a satelite falling out of orbit, and apparently awakening the monster from its slumber (as apparently the producer said), what were the first explosions?
I mean when they're in the party, and suddenly there's a big shake and all the lights go off, what do you reckon that was?
and then they all go onto the roof, and there's a huge explosion downtown, what was that? Can't have been anything to do with the statue of liberty, cos that's not downtown..

That was probably the oil tanker exploding in NY harbor. remember, it was lying on its side when you first see the news reports.
The film had a lot of continuity problems.,best not to look at it too closely
