Can anybody tell me what this movie was called?!

Question: There was this movie from the 80s or 70s, probably more like the 80s given how the screen looks better later on. It must have been around '87 when I saw it on TV and didn't get a chance to finish watching it. All I can give are some clues as to what I remember seeing.

1) It started out where they showed a guy playing darts and
I think he hit a bulleye or something.

2) Later on, some guy's on an airport runway or something and scatters clothes all over that runway trying to make out big letters with those clothes so someone in an airplane can see his message.

3) And there was a small airplane in the movie. I think it was one of those bi-planes or something.

And that's all I remember.
It's been about 20 years ago and I was like only 7 or 8 at the time so the memory is sort of vague.

Any movie experts that might remember this and what it was called?

My laptop shut down before I could save my answer several hours ago. I've been battling with it since. Anyway, my answer is~once more:

Fandango
starring Kevin Costner, Judd Nelson, Sam Robards, Suzy Amis, Glenne Headly, Pepe Serna, Elizabeth Daily
From Wikipedia:
It's 1971 at a frat house on the University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas. The film's first image is of Gardner Barnes (Kevin Costner) throwing darts at a picture of him and his ex-girlfriend (Suzy Amis). He rejoins the graduation party going on downstairs, but not before tearing the picture in half. Gardner is a member of a clique called the Groovers, whose other members include Kenneth Waggener (Sam Robards) who's engaged to be married; ROTC geek Phil Hicks (Judd Nelson) whose parents have just come to town and to the frat house just in time to see another Groover, Lester (Brian Cesak) pass out (he'll stay out for most of the film); and the strong quiet seminary student Dorman (Chuck Bush). Kenneth interrupts the festivities by announcing his student deferment has expired and he is now to be drafted into the Army. Gardner isn't surprised: his own notice came weeks before. The Groovers decide to celebrate their last days before the draft by going on a road trip, intending to stop at a notorious roadhouse and dig up someone - or something - named "Dom" buried under a boulder on the shores of the Rio Grande.

Way back when this first hit the movie channels, I watched it many times and still vividly recall the plane taxiing down the highway. I also remember "American Flyers", which isn't quite as offbeat as "Fandango", but it's another early-career, pre-stardom movie.

I'm sure you've received this answer already. But, I was determined to come back and get the answer submitted this time. I'm not sure what happened before.

I'm drawing a blank but it sounds vaguely familiar.

"Fandango", with a young Kevin Costner. They took a friend to a parachuting school, and the instuctors wife accidentally put her laundry in their friends backpack instead of the parachute, so his friends were trying to spell the word's "Dont Jump!"
