Can you name some movie stars that were genuine war heroes?!

Question: TV stars can be included too.

Answers: TV stars can be included too.

I also thought of James Stewart, who seemed not to have seen himself as a war hero, but won the Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters, The Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and the French Croix de Guerre with Palm and continued to serve after WWII in reserve forces. Apparently he even went to lengths to become heavy enough to enlist. Clark Gable also served when he didn't have to, and was awarded the Air Medeal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Tony Bennett served in the army in WWII. I think pretty much anyone who serves for their country like that is a hero. Maybe medals are not always a true measure of a hero. Damien Parer was a war cameraman from Australia with the AIF and then the US Army and first Australian to win an Oscar (jointly) for his film Kokoda Frontline. Unlike the others, he paid the ultimate price. Australian actor Charles Bud Tingwell also was a pilot in WWII.

The first that pops into my mind is Jimmy Stewart (who just-so-happens to be my favorite actor).
