I need a really scary movie to watch! Any suggestions?!

Question: I work nights at a nursing home and on Saturday we always watch a scary movie it is my turn this weekend to pick it out. We don't like the dumb ones that could never happen, for example some of the ones we have really liked are Amityville Horror, The Messengers, The reaping. We really like the religious based horror movies, but we just need one that is really scary and could actually happen.

Actually, "The Amityville Horror" is completely fabricated; "The Messengers" are ghosts; and "The Reaping" is biblical prophecy, isn't it? So, just about any horror film should work, because they're as likely to happen I suppose. Here are some suggestions:
House on Haunted Hill (original)
The Haunting (original)
The Sentinel (1977)
The Medusa Touch
What Lies Beneath
The Gravedancers
The Others (2001)
The Other (1972)
Long Time Dead
Beneath (2007)
Trauma (2004)
Burnt Offerings
Lady in White
The Innocents
Bad Dreams
Session 9
Repulsion
Salvage

Religious-based movies:
The Omen trilogy~Ignore the remake of the first one and "The Omen IV" since both are awful!
Fallen~Denzel Washington, John Goodman and Donald Sutherland
Prophecy trilogy~starring Christopher Walken
The Seventh Sign~Demi Moore
God Told Me to aka Demon
Fallen (TV miniseries)
The Eighteenth Angel
God Bless the Child
The Falling (2007)
Lost Souls (2000)
The Order (2003)
Archangel (2002)
Constantine
End of Days

The Shining?

Rosemary's Baby (very religious horror film).

The Wicker Man (the original 1970's version, not the new one
-- this is also a very religious horror film).

The Shining (not quite religious, but still very scary).

Darna mana hai

Try Disturbia, I thought it would be a really dorky teen film but it was both scary and fun. Also my husband just had me watch The Descent and I don't think I ever want to try to go spelunking since I did before the movie :o) Good luck and I like that little tradition you have at work, sounds like you all probably have a lot of fun together :o)

Event Horizon with Sam Neill. Scary horror/Sci Fi mix.

stigmata - really scary and could really happen in real life, in fact it already did.

omen series - scary and talks about the antichrist.

"The Others" is a good ghost flick with Nicole Kidman
"Identity" is fairly good as well, it has John Cusack in it-although this one is more of a thriller/suspense flick.
"The Exorcism of Emily Rose" is based on a true story, but was more creepy than scary and is religion based.

Watch < exorcist >.

"SAW" That is a pretty good movie

reeker weird movie

If you want a scary movie but not a gory movie with the story line being something that could actuall happen watch Play Misty For Me. Old Clint Eastwood movie and along the lines of a "fatal attraction"....scared the begeezus out of me.
