Too Much, Too Soon (1958)~This film is based on the true story of Diana Barrymore, Drew's aunt. Daughter of the internationally renowned actor John Barrymore and sister of John Drew Barrymore aka John Barrymore, Jr., Diana also was an actress, one of those out-of-control types.
A Star Is Born~all three versions, especially the first

This list includes a wide array of love stories, not all of them happily ever after; and quite a few of them are admittedly sappy but are very enjoyable. I'm not sure if you've tried the films of the Fifties. Remember in "Grease" when Rizzo sings, "I know you, Troy Donahue. I know what you wanna do?" Well, Troy was the heart-throbby troubled boy in a number of films, including "Susan Slade", "Parrish" and, most of all, "A Summer Place". If you want troubled teen romance with lots of angst, try these! In "Rome Adventure", Troy stars opposite Suzanne Pleshette; the two were married for a while. "Moment by Moment", if you can find it, is great dramatic stuff, in the category of "Madame X" and other Lana Turner movies.
