Opinion on 'There Will Be Blood'?!

Question: Did anyone else hate this movie? I keep reading about how 'powerful' and 'moving' it is, but I was bored out of my mind. Plenty of overacting and annoying music added to random scene and time shifts and very little progression made this one of the worst 2 1/2 hours of my life. Everyone else has the movie as one of the best of all time though. What do you think?

I liked it but the average moviegoer won't which is why is wasn't released as widely as most top movies are. It's not the type of movie that you would go to see on a lazy Saturday night. It's a piece of art work that has to be studied and understood before it can be fully appreciated. It's sort of like Citizen Kane, which I thought was nothing but boring the first time I saw it, yet many critics and lists rank it as the #1 movie of all time.

its a really good movie. daniel day lewis is one of the top 10 actors of today

I loved it. I thought the ending was messed up, though. The way Danile Day-Lewis' character *ahem* "got even" with Paul Dano's character. I ran out of that theatre crying. I was like, "Omigod! He killed my sweetheart! That d*ck!" I would put this flick at #1 on my Top 10 Most Wanted Movies List. But other than the tragic ending, I loved it. They could have cut that part out! My tear ducts went into overdrive. One box of tissues would not have been enough for me. This movie was so good, I rose from my seat and clapped as the end credits were rolling.

-Yeah, it's a little before it's time and will go unappreciated by the the casual movie goer. It's the kind of movie that needs to be watched a few times to fully understand it's multi faceted layers and probably discussed in order to be digested.
However I thought it was a brilliant character study.......it captured so many emotions.... lust, greed, shame, regret, love, desperation and more greed.
