I thought Routh was well cast, and was a good choice as a throwback to the Chris Reeve days. I wish they had chosen a different Lois Lane. I thought she was so badly cast it detracted from the movie. I'm not commenting on her beauty or acting ability, but she was so NOT Lois Lane, I wonder what the creators were even thinking. I also thought the whole Superman's kid thing was a bad choice, but its much better than some of the proposed plots I've read.
That said, I hope the entire cast comes back. Its frustruating when an actor is swapped out for a sequel, unless it becomes a theme of a franchise, a la James Bond.
I've also heard rumors that another Superman won't be made (due to disappointing returns on Returns), and Superman will next be seen in an ensemble flick like Justice League or Superman v. Batman, in which case the cast can easily be replaced.
Rumors are rumors, though.
I think Routh was OK as Superman but not so good he isn't irreplaceable in the role.
I am optimistic that it will be fine either way......
What are our thoughts on the rumors? Um, they're rumors. What else do you imagine needs to be said? My thought is that it would be too bad if they didn't use Routh again.
