Is Cloverfield any good?!

Question: We're in Scotland, it's not out here till Friday. The reviews seem a very mixed bag. No spoilers, we beg ye!

Cloverfield is going to be a love-it-or-hate-it type of movie.

You will find many people on here singing praises to it...and there are a few (like myself) who were so disgusted with the movie that we look at it as a complete waste of time and money.

The movie seems to be more appealing to the younger generation. Those of us who are older remember what really makes a good, watch-worthy horror movie. To me, Cloverfield can't even come close to holding a candle to some of the great horror movies of our generation.

See it if you want...I won't be saying anything good about it but I'm not you...and I found the movie to be distracting, without plot, badly filmed and badly cast.

Form your own opinion.

Some horror "greats" to me are the classics such as Carrie, Christine, Firestarter, The Exorcist, Jaws, Alien, The Blob (the original) and others. These movies are more than 20 years old...and still continue to thrill people...old and young.

apparently the cameras very shaky.

Apparently according to someone I know, the ending was strange or abit disappointing. But thats just one person.
It sure looks interesting from the trailer!

NOO it made me motion sick i NEVER get carsick or motion sick! the camera is very shakey! dont go its a bad movie the ending is dumb to everyone dies!! its gay and was a waste of money dont make the same mistake

i don't know if you'd consider this a spoiler or not.

the movie is not focused on what the monster is or why it is there, more on the way the people react to the monster being there. it's really short and concise too.
if you like movies that give you reasons to why things happen, this isn't the movie for you. plus i agree with the person before me. the camera is really shaky and it gets frustrating at some points.

its so bad we were laughing at it (the entire theatre) when it was over

you will probably have seen the best bits if you have seen the trailer.

It made me motion sick. The movie is taped through a home camera, so it's constantly boucing as it's carried. The ending is a bit of a shock though. Actually it was rather disappointing.

If you get motion sick, I suggest not going to see it until it comes out on DVD. That way you can pause it if it gets to bad.

Don't go there expecting an excellent movie, don't believe the hype as it got lots and everything with hype doesn't live up to it.

if you liked blair witch you be alrite with this, but its an alrite movie but what do you expect from a monster movie

It gave me a headache with the camera shaking, yeah, lot of people are complaining about this. Few people threw up in the theater because they were nauseated.

As far as the story, it's a godzilla knock off. Cheat stunts, and graphics. Do yourself a favor stay away from Cloverfield.

You will either like it or you wont. It's hard to explain why. Depends on how hard you ascribe to formula. You should list some of the more unusual movies you've really liked.

i went to the movies and they told me it was a bad movie ..i dont no till i c it..but i was walking past the theater they were showing it in and outside there was a sign and it said causes motion sickness i guess it makes you feel like your riding a roller coaster

~*************NOTE********~
if i were u i would wait to c it and just rent it on dvd at like a Hollywood video or what ever kind of video stores they have in scotland

I heard that its been making people really sick at the cinema....cause its sort of 'blair witch project' camera style, like loads of running with the camera etc...however if you have a strong stomach like me then i think it will be a good see!
