Question about Cloverfield and Meet the Spartans.?!
Question: I want to go see "Cloverfield", but we also want to take a 10 year old friend. Is it really violence, terror and disturbing images. Im asking if she could watch it?. Also "Meet the Spartans. How about that?

Uhhh.... I don't really know if either of them is suitable for a 10-year-old. I guess it depends on the kid. Does he get scared easily or is he prone to motion sickness? If not, then I guess Cloverfield would be okay for him (in addition to the violence and quick views of gore, there's quite a bit of swearing, despite what the rating says). It's very suspenseful, but there aren't really any "jump-in-your-seat" moments.
As for Meet the Spartans, it again depends on the kid and whether or not he's prone to repeat the naughtier jokes and bad language in the film.
Personally, though, if the kid doesn't get scared easily, I'd suggest seeing the clever and entertaining Cloverfield. Why would you even consider going to see Meet the Spartans?!
Update: Ah. The whole "mother not letting her kid watch a scary movie" thing could be a problem. In that case, I'd say skip both of them and look for a (good) movie that's in no way frightening. How about Juno? It's PG-13 for language and mature subject matter, but it's also a great movie with terrific performances. If that doesn't work, then I don't know. Enchanted, maybe?
I think "Cloverfield" would be a little too intence for the 10 year old. It's a little bit more intence than say Jurrasic Park or Godzilla.
I haven't seen "Meet The Spartans", but in my opinion, I wouldn't let my 10 year old get anywhere near that. I'm sure it's very PG-13, but it just looks like a horrible terrible movie.
