'I Am Legend' i understand the ending. what about the butterfly?!
Question: what is the signifigance of the butterfly he see on the womens neck and the way he links it to the butterfly his daughter shows him in the car at the beggining?

in one of his flashbacks, he is explaining to his wife about the infection becoming airborne and his daughter keeps talking and says, 'look at the pwetty buterfly'
to which he replies 'be quiet'
then at the end of the film when the alpha male is bashing against the glass its smashes into the shape of a butterfly, where he remembers what his daughter said
and so he when he sees that there is a butterfly tatto on the ladies neck then he begins to ''listen to god''
because thats what the lady had said earlier in the film..
and thats basically it. the butterfly is a sign from god that he has to give the blood to that lady, and then they will be able to cure the infection :)
It's basically a sign, like a symbolic message from God.
Person below me, it's a daughter, not a son.
He realizes that the message his son gave him was like a foreshadow or the "sign" from God which meant that the solution was right in front of him.
this didnt happen in the book.
when the alpha male was beating himself against the glass that neville was hiding behind, he was cracking the glass into the shape of a butterfly. Then the thing about the butterfly that his daughter said linked to the butterfly on the girls back. It was like he solved it, now the girl with the butterfly was suppost to fix the rest. thats what I think. btw, that movie rocked!
im confused to, but its a symbolic thing relating back to when his child was showing him the butterfly, a test of god? the solution? im just as confused.
i didnt get that either...i mean i understood that the butterfly was symbolic with his daughter, but the butterfly tattoo on the woman told him that the kid with her had was the cure,......awesome book......tons of potential for the movie with Will Smith, but when the ending is as lame as that.....it ruins the whole movie
