Is the movie "Juno" an appropriate movie for a mature 11 year old?!

Question: There is swearing in the movie. If your daughter/son is mature than I am sure she/he can handle the swearing. Aside from that... it is a very mature topic, but I think it a very important one. I think it would be a great idea to have your 11 year old watch the movie. Just keep in mind that it will come with a lot of questions, and if it doesn't than maybe it will require you probing for thoughts.
Sex and teen pregnancy are all around us and your eleven year old is almost a teen. We should be communicating with our children about sex as early as possible.

- by the way.. there are no graphic sex scenes, that part is all done very tactfully.

i think it is. i have seen it with my cousin who is 10 and a half and she loved it! its not all about sex and more sex like so many other movies are. it has a good message and is definately worth seeing!

PG-13....11
Hmmm 13....11

hmmmm

No

no.... only if they know what happens with fertilization!!!

these days...yeah

it's a great way to open the dialouge of what should, could, would occur when presented with this set of circumstances. i found the movie a little far fetched in some respects but i have to admit it had me crying by the end. it certainly did not minimize the difficulty of the situation. yes, i would not be afraid of exposing my child to this subject in the way it is handled.

Yeah

I don't know why people like this movie, i thought it was very boring.. there wasn't any excitement..

mature 11 yr old? lol
no such thing
but it was still a fine move
even for a "mature" 11 yr old

You should wait for it to come out on DVD and if you can't wait just stream it online with them. That way if your child doesn't understand a part or something disturbing or of that nature appears you can pause it and take a moment to explain to them what is going on and get feedback at the same time. Remember, movies, especially when seen in the theater, have a lasting impact on not only children but adults too, and you never know which parts will stick out in your kid's mind. Watch it at home, it will be a better experience for you and your child. Take them to movies at the theater that have no questions as to if they're age-appropriate or not.

If they are really mature,an have a good sence of humour, then yes.It could actually be a life lesson.
