What book or books is the Matrix series from?!

Question: "Neuromancer", by William Gibson, is said to be one of the sources which inspired the Matrix trilogy (the word "matrix" is actually used in the book). I've read it and there are certain similarities, but it might be just because William Gibson "officially" started what we call the cyberpunk genre today.

I'll leave the Wikipedia link about it if you want to read more, but the Matrix trilogy was mostly based on a huge number of religious conceptions, books, Japanese animation and even western movies.

i don't know exact source but i can tell u that the philosophy in the movie was similar to that HINDU (INDIAN) mythological books says & definately action sequences are not the copy of any book

it's not from any books, just a movie, i know that that is shocking to hear these days, but people have original ideas and dont remake everything
