In the movie "There will be blood" why wasn't there any blood?!


Question: I went to see it and and it was rated R but there was really no gore or profainity or nudity so why was it R and where was the blood?

Yea I believe that the blood was significant to the oil in the movie. It was the mind set of the main character who would stop at nothing to get that oil. He used a boy as his son, he killed the guy proclaiming to be his brother, and he killed the preacher kid. I still don't know why they rated it R, their wasn't any reason for that.

Read the title: its says "WILL BE" - not "there is".

Remember all the religious stuff between Daniel and Eli, when Daniel was forced to be converted to get the deal he wanted? There were scripture verses that involved "blood".

The book that the movie was based on, written by Upton Sinclair, was titled "Oil!". Maybe a little less obscure, given the theme of the movie.

"WILL BE"

Blood was a metaphor for Oil.
