Well from what I read about the movie they were trying to portray violence in movies is pointless and also voilence in life is also pointless. The european style of movies is alot of nudity and sexuality, but in american movies it's about the gore, They were trying to show you how all of the violence in movies and in real life is pointless, sometimes people just kill just because. Not because they have any real reason to. The killer went around killing not because he had to but because he chose to. The car accident in the movie was pointless but there were showing us how pointless gore and violence is in a movie. I thought it was a great movie.

I hated the ending. It was about just giving up when you are too old to catch the bad guy. Tommy Lee Jones quit.

To me the message was - no matter how bad the world has chnaged, there is always goodness and hope.

You need to watch it again and listen carefully at the beginning when Tommy Lee Jones's character is talking over the movie, and his speech at the end. The two are connected.

From darkness comes light - has dream of his father carrying a light torch in the dark and cold mountains!

As you probably know, the story is convoluted, about a mega drug deal gone bad, and the aftermath including the law, an uber bad guy, and a greedy private citizen who decides to profit from the mess.

But REALLY it's about the lack of ethical values across the board (not just in the criminal element) in today's society.

Very creepy.

You are 100% right they dropped the script 15 minutes before the end. It was intentional, a trademark of the director. There was nothing to get.

Great movie.

One of the reason it was a great movie is that it made you think.

My take away was two fold. From Tommy Lee Jones' character perpective ---- the world has changed for the worse, too violent, doesn't make sense any more -- Hence the title -- No Country For Old Men.

From Javier Bardem's character's perspective---what happens to you in life is based on chance -- are you at the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time ---- choose----heads or tails.
