Anyone remember the movie The Emerald Forest? I saw it about l5 or 20 years ago !

Question: It was based on the true story of a boy taken by a tribe of Indians in the Amazon rain forest, while his father was working on building a dam there. After l0 years of searching the father finally found him. I was so glad the movie still holds up and passed the test of time. Someone I know was just over there recently and said their are still tribes over there that have never known civilization, and will still eat people. I would highly recommend it.

I remember this! I was just thinking about it the other day. I was probably 10 or 11, but I remember I loved the movie. I'll have to go rent it again. I can rememer the scene where he was taken by the road. Something about him using a green drug causing hallucinations, someone getting electrocuted climbing on power cables, and him marrying some tribal girl. Takes me back.

You would highly recommend that tribes still eat people?? lol
Putting all kidding aside, I remember this movie well and I'd like to see it again. I always wondered, however, how could two dark-haired parents have a child with such blond hair (I'm a stickler for finding goofs in my movies). But...later that same year that the movie came out, my daughter was born and she is still a natural blond while the rest of the fam have dark brown hair.

While I strongly doubt the cannibalism part, I will say that I remember "The Emerald Forest" (1985) and have seen it a number of times. Charley Boorman did an excellent job, didn't he? So did Meg Foster and Powers Boothe. I first saw Boorman when he portrayed young Mordred in "Excalibur".

I recently placed this film on a couple of suggestion lists because it would be unfortunate if it fell into obscurity. This would be an interesting one to team up with "Where the River Runs Black", which was released the following year I believe. A third one would be "Green Mansions". That would make a nifty Amazon Marathon!

Haven't thought of that one in years, an amazing movie...thank god for netflix!!!

Thanks for the tip! I may have seen it but probably not.
