Your opinion on AVP 2?!
Question: Thinking about seeing it tonight, please only answer if you already have; I loved the Alien and Predator series but thought AVP was sub-standard; is AVP 2 an improvement?

honest opinion ? i thought it was a bit sucky, coulda been way way better, same old plot as 1000 other dire sequels which is a shame because i love the aliens movies for the most part...just poor acting and direction, some ok jumpy bits but we've seen them all before.

Hey ...I respect ur Choice but i think AVP is boring ! so i dont think AVP 2 will be good.... But its your choice! ... Its better to watch if you like some series...
I love the comic books...especially the first AVP...and Aliens/Predator: Deadliest of the Species. Excellent stuff though I am not sure you speak of the comics or the video games when you talk about liking the series. The video games I found so-so...with moments of mild entertainment.
As for the first movie...I was disappointed. They had most of the ingredients to make an excellent movie...and somehow dropped the ball....badly. Let's not even speak of the fact that Predators are lizards..."who come out during the hottest years" running around the Arctic with their underwear and no more...and how they left out the fact that the alien hunt is in part a rite of passage for the Predator adolescent to become a 'man' and a full fledged member of the tribe.
And let's not even speak of the nonsense of the predators teaching us how to build the pyramids. Right. Wanna make a blunder like that...better include a good story...which they did not.
I downloaded number two...watched then minutes of it...deleted it from my hard drive...shat, showered, shaved...and went to the theatre on the corner and paid my $11.75 to see it on the big screen.
You see...;I knew the story was weak...or nonexistent...but the bodycount was where it ought to be...if you have at least three different types of aliens....
Splatterfest! You could not keep me away from the large screen. AVP 2 was a bloodfest...brutal...harsh...and wet...damn near pornographic violence (almost)...I sat through the whole movie with a grin on my face. Enjoyed it. And I am glad it had no story. Personally...I am glad it was...as it was...for that was a true translation of the comic to the screen.
If you are not going to give me a story that works...don't bother me with one...at all. Just give me the hunt...with the humans caught in the crossfire. I'll make up a story for myself. More action...less story.
I loved the way the aliens were getting in the predator's *** in the first movie...and I liked the way the predator was getting in the aliens *** in this movie...right up until he meets the adolescent queen alien on the roof. When she drops down into the predator's "COME ON!" stance...I loved it.
AVP 2 was an improvement over the first one. The story was no good...so they did not bother...the bloodletting was spot on. Excellent idea with the three types(or more) of aliens...real cool watching the pred-aliens exerting dominance over the hum-aliens...and how each type was doing something specific to its assigned role. The humans were a waste of time (that Ripley pseudo clone was a real hoot...not!)...far wimpier than the humans of the first movie...but it was cool that none of them got any respect from the aliens...even those you expected to be saved...were getting impregnated or slaughtered....or both. That scene in the hospital room with those pregnant women was...just...plain...wrong! So...let's have more wrong stuff...just like that...in the movies to come...and I will pay $11.75 to see it/them.
I won't be downloading AVP 2. Think I am going to spring for that PS3...and with a nice Samsung LCD to boot...enjoy AVP 2...in all its Blu-Ray...widescreen glory.

no it is a downgrade. the hybrid looked so cheasy. i could have made a better version of it.
I went to the cinema to see avp2 last nite, it was awesome.
AvP was horrible. I didnt think that it was well thought up. AvP2 however was VERY good. Its what the first one should have been.
it's ok, but when are they going back to making proper alien movies:O we havent had on in ages:|
