Some I'd recommend: Object Of My Affection, Get real,
Fingersmith, The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy

Notes on a scandal is pretty good.

Bad Education is one of my favourites. It is a Spanish movie with English subtitles and features brilliant acting by the two lead actors as well as solid writing and direction from the acclaimed Pedro Almodóvar. Definitely worth buying!

Another great movie covering such topics as homophobia within the church, coming out, and incest is Priest. This movie deals with some heavy topics but always in a very sensitive manner. It features a great peformance by Linus Roache whilst supported by Tom Wilkinson and Robert Carlyle.

In my humble opinion Brokeback Mountain although an excellent movie is often overrated.

Chasing Amy

"In & Out" with Tom Sellek,.."The Closet", a French Canadian film with English subtitles, about a straight man who works at a condom factory, facing layoff,he pretends to be gay to keep his job, placing him in various awkward situations..."Torch Song Trilogy",a bitter sweet story of the human condition, trials & tribulations of being gay & a true love, that is lost,a Mothers broken heart..."Mambo Italiano"How a traditional Italian family learns to cope with a gay son.Very funny.

No Holds Barred.

A Home at the End of the World

There's no girl/girl stuff on this list, so be warned. I'm really getting very weary of it showing up all of the time, even on commercials! But, guys scarcely dare touch each other on U.S. TV, not even a kiss! "Torchwood" just might have shaken the universe a bit though since British TV seems much braver. I do wish BBC America would rerun "This Life" because Ramon Tikaram is one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen!

There are some fantastic titles already mentioned, may I offer a little heard of movie called Happy, Texas? This is a terrific little feelgood movie and William H Macy's 'coming out' character is superb. Highly recommended. Oh and try to dig out Queer as Folk, a Tv series from Britains Channel4 set in Manchesters gay district, this was an incredibly popular show and should be quite easy to obtain. Apparently there is a US version which I have heard is quite good.
These ones I've heard are good but have never seen
Edge of Seventeen
Rent
Coming out
Beautiful Thing
Innocent

Mysticmoon - This Life has only been rerun once in the UK, which is unusual for the Beeb as they are famous for repeats - it was one of their most popular shows at the time. Ramon is now in one of their crappy kids shows (not even a good one) which is a shame because he seemed to have a lot of potential.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned the beautiful and poetic Mysterious Skin. Nothing against Brokeback, but this is the gay film that should have received all of the buzz back in 05.

None because I'm not gay LOL
